1725 c. - Violin "Wieniawski"
Soundboard of two pieces of spruce to very narrow vein (by Stradivari with traits "Amatisé", but build towards 1690 and placed on an instrument assignable to about 1725 during a restoration of indeterminable age); showing a depression in the center and numerous small pieces inserted in the holes left by wood-eating insects; a crack from the edge of the left lower lobe continuing to beyond the eye of the f-hole and reaches the edge of the C; to the right of this, towards the center, there are numerous other cracks. Two cracks are also visible in the left upper lobe and one in the right. The edges of the upper lobes, from CC to neck, are redone. To the right of the tailpiece, towards the lower edge, is imprinted in the direction of the wood grain a mark formed by the letters KT. Back of two pieces of curly maple with narrow curl, glued in a herringbone pattern with apex at the top. Ribs of curly maple with a curl more narrow than that of the back. Neck not original; the original grafted pegbox that show a remake in the central part of the box. The instrument is completely covered with protective varnish, with a few fragments of the original varnish reddish- brown.
