1698 - Cello "Marquis de Cholmondeley"

Soundboard of spruce at very fine vein, which widens towards the hips. Back of two pieces of curly maple on medium curl, glued in a herringbone pattern with apex at the top. Ribs of wood similar to that of the fund. Scroll of curly maple to medium-broad curl, attributed to Florenus Guidantus of Bologna. Golden-brown varnish.
