1656 - Violin "King Louis XIV"
The top is of spruce, with double prufling and painted fleur-de-lis on the beaks and under the tailpiece. The back is one-piece of varied medium curl, with double purfling and painted fleur-de-lys on the beaks and above and under the nose. The ribs are of maple cut on the quarter with painted fleur-de-lys and decorations near the beaks and the end button. The neck is original restored. The scroll is of curly maple with painted fleur-de-lys, the peg box is later. The varnish is golden-orange-brown.
