He was born in Cremona, carpenter, but there is non documentary evidence of his life: he probably was a young apprentice in Enrico Ceruti's atelier, together with Carlo Ceruti and Eugenio Politi, but he told he was Giuseppe Ceruti's pupil, in fact he moved to his atelier in Mantua in 1855.
Around 1860 he came back in Cremona, wehre he took part in the exhibition in 1863. In 1864 he moved to Genova and went back to his hometown in 1866.
In 1870 he moved to Milan and participated to London exhibition. In 1881 he took part in the Milan exhibition. He taught his professional knowledge to his sons Romeo and Riccardo.
